How much will it cost?
How much will it cost to get a logo done? What do you charge for a website? These are questions people ask designers but, without additional information, any designer worth their salt (and your money) cannot honestly answer questions like these without getting some very valuable information about your business or organization.
Think of it in terms of a purchase familiar to you, such as buying a car. One doesn’t simply ask “I need a car. How much is will that cost?” The dealer will ask questions to determine your specific needs before making a recommendation within your budget: two or four door, engine size, GPS, sunroof, cargo area, seating capacity, etc.
When you need a logo, website, rack card etc the design process requires research, client consultations, comprehensives, reviews and refinements to create visual solutions unique to the challenge at hand. Bulk clipart or cookie-cutter templates can get the job done quickly and cheaply but the results probably won’t support your business goals and survive in the long term. There’s no do-overs to making a good first impression.
Be assured that it is possible to work within your budget without settling for work that doesn’t uniquely represent your business. This can be done by choosing the key visual pieces you need to make that initial positive impact. Having a solid working relationship with a designer who understands your business will help to create and build on your brand image. When your budget allows they’ll have the working relationship with you and the information to design additional collaterals.
When working with my clients, we determine a starting budget they are comfortable with. I get to know them and their business as we walk through a creative brief, develop samples and discuss the outcomes, all the while keeping them apprised of where they are at in their budget and make informed decisions. Also, when clients are busy working at their business during the day, my hours are flexible allowing me to meet with them when they are available albeit evenings or weekends.
My job is to design results that answer your visual needs, in a timely manner and within budget. Contact me to discuss a plan just for you!
