What would you do?

Last fall I was involved in a photo challenge called “back to school”. I approach challenges such as this as an opportunity to explore a gamut of possible solutions. These three photos show my interpretation of the back-to-school theme.
1) Shavings from coloured pencils is something I’ve seen at student desks when they’re permitted to add some colour to an exercise they’re working on. I like closeup compositions that expose a lot of details a subject has to offer. 2) Notebooks are always evident in a school setting. I searched for ones that had different coloured coils for this composition. I arranged them in such a way that it wasn’t necessary to include the entire notebook in the capture. 3) The final photo photo is my favourite because it uses three stereotypical objects associated with school but arranged in an unconventional manner to catch the viewer by surprise.

Let me know if you have a preference or can suggest another solution I might explore.
